The World’s Greatest Story
The story of our life is personal and precious to each of us; it is something most people in the West feel we have the right to own and direct. The freedom to control our destiny sits firmly at the heart of American individualism. The story of the Protestant Pilgrims successfully seeking their destiny in a new land, free from religious and government institutions’ oppressive hands, is perhaps the greatest gift the USA has given the world.
Most people have strong feelings about the freedom to carve out our path in life—free from control or manipulation—that extend beyond the oppression of church and state. People, generally, will only accept family tradition and influence over our lives in our modern times as long as that tradition and influence support us without directing our essential choices in life.
Arranged marriages and parents determining their children’s occupations in life are subjects likely to evoke genuine anger in most citizens of the West.
Choosing a partner whom we love and wish to share our lives with and then proceeding to negotiate life’s important decisions together—free from undue external influence—is a sacred pathway, a course of conducting our life that the villains’ in our crime story have attempted to steal from us.
Not my way or your way, Steve and I call this The Golden Way: a solid road to security and meaning in life that we are here to help you discover and explore.
The World’s Most Tragic Story
The church is painted as the primary oppressor in history. Yet, countless millions of people have, over the centuries, had their destinies stolen from them after being captured into slavery in one form or another. Africans but also Englishmen and Europeans were driven to work in factories in cities or arrested for being homeless and made into enslaved people when the land they needed to sustain themselves was stolen from them when the commons were enclosed. This enclosure of previously public land was enacted by wealthy private citizens throughout the Reformation—bolstered by the monarchy and state—while also looting community-held shared assets, previously held in trust partly by church and monastery.
The theft of the commons by private corporations continues today;
In the globalisation era, the commons are being enclosed, and the power of communities is being undermined by a corporate enclosure in which life itself is being transformed into the private property of corporations. The corporate enclosure is happening in two ways. Firstly, IPR systems are allowing the 'enclosure' of biodiversity and knowledge, thus eroding the commons and the community. Secondly, the corporation is being treated as the only form of association with legal personality.”

The Golden Way is not a ‘right’ that we can insist that our governments will protect, but a principle that all races must stand by together and fight to defend.
Corporations have today become the new international oppressive monarchic state, far more guilty of attempting to control our lives than parents who—we will discover in a subsequent chapter on grooming—are often unjustly scapegoated for these corporations’ crimes.
Corporations have come to act like omnipotent behemoths—as they join forces and conspire to own the world. Professionals at seduction, creating competing desires in us that turn husband and wives’ household negotiation tables into war rooms.
In the words of the famous UK Street artist Banksy:
“People are taking the piss out of you every day. They butt into your life, take a cheap shot at you and then disappear. They leer at you from tall buildings and make you feel small. They make flippant comments from buses that imply you're not sexy enough and that all the fun is happening somewhere else. They are on TV making your girlfriend feel inadequate. They have access to the most sophisticated technology the world has ever seen, and they bully you with it. They are The Advertisers, and they are laughing at you…
You owe the companies nothing. Less than nothing. You especially don't owe them any courtesy. They owe you. They have rearranged the world to put themselves in front of you. They never asked for your permission; don't ever start asking for theirs.”

The Weapon
Science often leans towards numbers as the primary building blocks of our universe; when it comes to the human psyche, however, our world is not built on numbers but on stories.
The art of storytelling is as old as language itself. As human beings, we cannot escape the magic of a good story. We operate within the archive of stories we are told throughout our lives. Steve Cooper
Corporations’ weapon of choice is the stories we hear from their PR and advertising departments, directed by marketers who continuously aim to sell us something, playing—in every way conceivable—on our insecurities and desire to be accepted and loved.
Advertisers aren’t paid to satisfy, so these agencies will never genuinely give us what our hearts desire. Conversely, their skills focus on creating a hungry (or fearful) market, and they do an excellent job. People line up for days ahead of time, thirsting for the release of new products they have never seen.
Scripts are essential to creating a successful marketing strategy. A successful film or engaging political commentator will use tightly crafted wording to connect with us. A talented songwriter or poet will add emotional music or imagery to their lyrics to find that connection with you, their audience.
Every story we hear is integrated within our minds, even if we reject the report as false, irrelevant or a fallacy. On a deeper level, we integrate stories even if we consider the information irrelevant or ‘old data’. All scripts that we are exposed to penetrate our minds, whether we like it or not. Within our minds, well-crafted scripts take on a life of their own. Steve Cooper
Marketers may not even know much about the benefits and dangers of the products and ideas that they promote. Yet—weaving their way into our thinking—their stories affect our purchasing decisions and deliberately alter our lives.
Isolating Us as Victims
While there have always been forces that would divide us for their motives of power and personal gain (more on motives in Part 2), social media technology, with its various platforms based on demographics, including age and political leanings, has created what is known as online echo chambers. Places on our devices where we are made to feel that we are following the herd while, in reality, we are being isolated. The use of trolls (paid commenters) and ghosts (followers and commenters who are bots and not human) add to the illusion that we are still part of a dynamic crowd while we are, in fact, being separated from our family and friends.
How do we protect our freedom in this landscape?
Protect Your Family for Zero Dollars
Will the new car or home the advertisers are tempting us with bring the love suggested by their ads? Customer reviews only deal with the quality of the house or car, never mentioning if the product genuinely bought the buyer love.
We receive many reports from men concerning their wife's runaway spending on designer brand-name consumer goods. Clearly, very few families can afford ridiculously high prices on basic items just to maintain their family’s status. I wonder if this is the situation with your wife?
Before assigning blame, let me ask, “How often do you genuinely make your wife feel wanted, needed and appreciated in your home?”
The marketing world is expert at undermining our sense of belonging, using clever tactics to increase our insecurity and drive our desire for their goods. They will do anything to convince you that it is their product, and not your uniqueness or your family’s connectedness, that will bring status to your ‘personal brand’. Marketers and their think tanks are the command centre of narcissistic bullies in our world.
It is only when men and women feel a sense of status and belonging within their family relationships that we are inoculated against this unhealthy hunger they infect us with for status through spending.
It costs zero dollars to protect your wife from the deliberate insecurity marketers cause by building an atmosphere of appreciation and belonging within your home. Steve Cooper

"it costs zero dollars" -- how empowering!! We have the power ourselves. We just need the knowledge, like we find in this article, and we can create our own lives of meaning and love.
